There can be more then one element assigned to a single element.(I.E. Two fire guardians, etc...) 

There can be more than one spirit assigned to guard the same item or structure. But an individual can only have ONE.
Guardians assigned to individuals may likely have completely different personalities. This causes the guardians and their hosts to sometime be hostile towards one another. But a guardian will never out right attack its host. Verbally perhaps.
Guardians may take similar color schemes to their hosts, if their element allows. They were made specifically for their host after all. 

The gems come off their back and chase and attack enemies when angered, and shoot laser-like magic (the same color as the gem). All three orbs may form a triangle and the magic from the back two will connect to the orb on the disk, which will then fire a beam of magic relevant to its element. ~This is the strongest attack.
Their tails get all frizzy when aggravated

Sometimes their ears can be the same color as their mane and tale, but the tufts will be the color of the main body, and vise-versa

Their face is usual a shade of grey, even if it's like red-grey, blue-grey, etc.
Disks are ALWAYS Gold.

The ribbons can lift, wrap around, and constrict.

Once a guardian is assigned it is forever loyal

Guardians CAN die if injured too badly, they'll just fade to inexistence and a new guardian is assigned.

Guardians genders are specified visually by the size of the mane. Females have a smaller mane and tail than Males. _{boys gotta impress somehow...}


(For those of you who have adopted I left that open for you to decide. Just make the main bigger/smaller/leave it be. Either way. )
